Nancy Borowick, a recent graduate of the Photojournalism and Documentary Photography program at the International Center of Photography, is a native New Yorker and is based in New York City and Ghana, West Africa. With a Bachelors degree in Anthropology and Photography, Nancy has spent the last two years committed to using her photography to fund raise for a well at a school in Ghana where she lived in 2008. She founded The Ghana On Tap project and to has raised over $11,000 for the cause. She went on to spend 2009 and 2010 exploring and documenting her mother’s experience undergoing treatments for a recurrent case of breast cancer. She is currently working on a documentary portraiture project on elderly widows in Mt. Kisco, New York entitled “Single Ladies.” Nancy has exhibited her work in solo and group shows in New York and Texas, most recently in the show Significant Surfices, at the Andrea Meislin Gallery in New York City. She was awarded the Beyond the Gates Fund in 2005, followed by the Photographers Forum Magazine Honorable Mention in their annual National College Competition in 2007. Nancy was also recently published in a W.W. Norton textbook, a Wiley Blackwell publication and issue 19 of JPG Magazine. She was recently selected as a top three finalist in the PhotoPhilanthropy.org Amateur Photography Competition.

“The People of the Streets”- Day in the Life of Ana Ma Deluca

Ana is a missionary from Spain who moved to NYC after 25 years in the Philippines. To become closer with the homeless community in New York Ana gave up the comforts of the convent to live with “the people of the streets.” She also known as a “canner,” one who collects cans, and organized a redemption center where the homeless can bring their cans in bulk and make a small income.
