Film Fridays

Welcome to Film Fridays. Every Friday, students from ICP’s Photojournalism and Documentary Photography program will share their weekly film images they take in and around New York City.

Girls, Harlem
Madeleine and Abby stand outside Harlem Public, a restaurant in West Harlem, New York City, at the corner of 149th and Broadway. Madeleine works as a barista at a local coffee shop called The Chipped Cup, and Abby is her roommate. Student and caucasian population numbers have risen in recent years. Since the 1980’s redevelopment in Harlem, also referred to as the “second Harlem renaissance”, neighborhoods around the area have become safer and better mantained. Photo by © Eryn Shaffer for ICP
Girls, Harlem
Addy standing at the intersection of 149th and Broadway in West Harlem. She moved to the city with dreams of becoming an artist and musician. Even though there is word that there is artists leaving the city to pursue their dreams elsewhere, such as Chicago and L.A., there are still many young adults like Addy who move to N.Y.C. with high hopes.
